Wizkid Drops New Album ‘Morayo’ in Tribute to Late Mother
Grammy winner's sixth studio album features collaborations with Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, and Asake
Nigerian superstar Wizkid has released his highly anticipated sixth studio album “Morayo” (“I see joy” in Yoruba) today, marking his first full-length project since 2020’s “More Love, Less Ego.” The 16-track album, released through Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records, serves as a tribute to his mother Juliana Morayo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.
The album features collaborations with R&B stars Brent Faiyaz and Jazmine Sullivan, as well as Afrobeats sensation Asake, French artist Tiakola, and Anaïs. The project includes previously released singles “Piece of My Heart” featuring Brent Faiyaz, which reached No. 4 on U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, and “Kese (Dance).”
Earlier this year, Wizkid expressed confidence in the project, tweeting, “Best album I ever made!! Now listen! It’s only up from here!” The release comes at a time for the artist, as he and Asake recently received a 2025 Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance for their collaboration “MMS.”
