UBA Group Expands to France with New Business Cooperation Agreement

Bank Partners with French Government to Facilitate Banking Operations

In a landmark move, United Bank for Africa (UBA Group) has inked a groundbreaking business cooperation agreement with the French government, aimed at facilitating the bank’s full-scale banking operations in France.

The historic agreement was signed by UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu and French Finance Minister Antoine Armand, with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron bearing witness to the occasion.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Elumelu remarked that the partnership reinforces UBA’s commitment to providing seamless international banking services, not just across the 11 Francophone African countries it currently serves, but for Africa as a whole, as well as French and European customers doing business with the continent.

“Expanding into France is a natural progression for us, with Paris serving as our European Union hub, as we continue to bring Africa and the world together through innovative financial solutions,” Elumelu stated. “Paris will join London, New York and Dubai as a critical component of our unique global network.”

UBA, one of the largest employers in the African financial sector, currently operates in 20 African countries, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates. The bank caters to over 45 million customers worldwide, providing innovative retail, commercial, and institutional banking services while pioneering financial inclusion and cutting-edge technological solutions.

The agreement between UBA and the French government solidifies the growing economic ties between Nigeria and France, and is expected to facilitate deeper collaboration and cross-border business opportunities between the two countries.
