ICPC Begins N10 Billion Project Tracking in Osun Federal Constituencies
Anti-corruption agency launches seventh phase of monitoring exercise to ensure value for money in public infrastructure
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched a tracking exercise of constituency projects worth N10.47 billion in Osun State, covering areas including Osogbo, Ilobu, Kuta, and Ede.
Mary Oke, who leads the ICPC tracking team, announced the initiative on Saturday, explaining that it forms part of the commission’s seventh phase of constituency and executive projects tracking exercise. The programme aims to promote accountability and transparency in public project implementation.
“We have commenced phase seven of the constituency and executive projects tracking exercise in Osun,” Oke said, detailing the scope of projects under review, valued at “N10,470,872,906.60 in Osun State.”
The tracking exercise is designed to assess the status of various constituency and executive projects across the state, ensuring that public resources are judiciously utilised to deliver quality infrastructure and services to citizens. “The tracking is to ensure that government-funded projects provide value for money and are executed according to specifications,” Oke explained.
In a bid to enhance the effectiveness of the monitoring process, the ICPC has called for collaboration from key stakeholders, including community leaders and civil society organisations. The commission emphasized the importance of stakeholder support through the provision of relevant information that could assist in achieving the exercise’s objectives.
The initiative represents a step in the ICPC’s ongoing efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the execution of public projects, particularly those funded through constituency allocations.
