Osimhen Brace Inspires Galatasaray Win
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his scintillating form for Galatasaray, scoring a brace to help the Turkish giants secure a 3-2 victory over Samsunspor in the Super Lig on Sunday.
Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, heading home a cross from Lucas Torreira to put the league leaders ahead. Samsunspor managed to equalize early in the second half, but Osimhen restored Galatasaray’s lead five minutes later, pouncing on a goalkeeper’s error to head the ball into the net.
The 25-year-old’s double strike proved crucial as the two sides traded a goal each after Osimhen’s brace, with Galatasaray ultimately securing all three points to extend their lead at the top of the table to six points.
Osimhen’s performance follows his Europa League heroics earlier in the week, where he also scored a brace to help Galatasaray defeat Tottenham Hotspur. The Nigerian forward has now scored six goals in six league matches and eight goals in nine matches since the start of his loan spell.
Chelsea and Arsenal Share Spoils in Thrilling London Derby
In another exciting fixture, Chelsea and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw in a highly anticipated London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal thought they had taken the lead before the break, but Kai Havertz’s strike was eventually ruled out for offside after a VAR review. The Gunners would eventually hit the front on the hour mark when Gabriel Martinelli fired past Robert Sanchez from close range.
However, the Blues managed to level the score ten minutes later when Pedro Neto’s long-range effort found the back of the net, earning Chelsea a point in the fiercely contested encounter.
The result sees both clubs remain level on points and inside the top four, but they trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by nine points heading into the international break.
