Champions League Roundup: Manchester City Stumble, Arsenal Cruise, Bayern Edge PSG

It was a night of mixed results for the Premier League clubs in the Champions League, as Manchester City were held to a 3-3 draw by Feyenoord, while Arsenal cruised to a 5-1 victory over Sporting in Lisbon.

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City raced into a commanding 3-0 lead, thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland and a deflected strike from Ilkay Gundogan. However, the Dutch champions staged a spirited fightback, with Anis Hadj-Moussa, Santiago Gimenez, and David Hancko finding the back of the net to secure a share of the spoils.

Arsenal, on the other hand, put on an impressive display against Sporting in Portugal. Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Magalhaes scored in the first half to put the Gunners in control. Although Goncalo Inacio pulled one back for the hosts early in the second half, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard extended Arsenal’s lead to seal a convincing 5-1 victory.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was delighted with his team’s performance, saying, “It’s a big result against a big opponent. We wanted to make that statement. The first half was exceptional, and we showed a lot of personality to bring the game back and then score the fourth goal.”

In other Champions League fixtures, Bayern Munich edged out Paris Saint-Germain 1-0, Barcelona beat Brest 3-0, Atalanta thrashed Young Boys 6-1, Atletico Madrid hammered Sparta Prague 6-0, and Bayer Leverkusen beat Salzburg 5-0.
