In a significant diplomatic meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier offered strong words of encouragement to Nigeria, highlighting the country’s ongoing economic reforms and expressing Germany’s full support during challenging times.
Drawing from Germany’s own historical economic struggles, Steinmeier emphasized the critical role of courage and perseverance in national economic transformation. “It is not easy,” he reflected, referencing Germany’s past economic challenges. “You need a lot of courage and perseverance that would be to the benefit of your country.”
The German leader was unequivocal in his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that German political leaders are closely following Nigeria’s “courageous steps.” He personally pledged Germany’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s reform efforts and helping the nation navigate its current economic challenges.
“Germany will support you on the ongoing reforms in Nigeria,” Steinmeier concluded.
