Nigerian Afrobeats sensations Asake and Ayra Starr have secured nominations for the 2025 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards. Both artistes have been recognized in the Best International Act category, competing alongside international heavyweights like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Kendrick Lamar.
Seven Nigerian artistes were also nominated in the Best African Music Act category. Artists including Tems, Odumodublvck, Rema, BNXN, Ruger, and Shallipopi.
South African singer Tyla, who recently won Best New Artist at the BET Awards 2024, has also made an impressive showing with nominations in multiple categories. Meanwhile, West London rapper Central Cee is poised to make history, potentially becoming the first musician to win the Best Male Artist award three times, currently tied with Stormzy.
