Finnish Police Arrest Biafra Agitator Simon Ekpa on Terror-Related Charges

Four others detained for allegedly financing terrorist activities in southeastern Nigeria

Simon Ekpa, the self-declared Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in exile, has been arrested in Finland along with four other individuals on terror-related charges, according to Finnish authorities.

The Central Criminal Police of Finland confirmed that Ekpa was remanded in custody by the Päijät-Häme District Court on suspicion of “public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent,” while four others were arrested for allegedly financing terrorist activities.

Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, who heads the investigation, revealed that Ekpa is believed to have used his social media channels to promote activities that incited violence against civilians and authorities in southeastern Nigeria. “The man has carried out this activity, among other things, on his social media channels,” Hiltunen stated.

The arrests followed an international investigation, with the Finnish police noting that “international cooperation has been carried out during the preliminary investigation.” All five suspects were taken into custody earlier this week, with their cases scheduled for hearing at the Päijät-Häme District Court on November 21.
